Every time I think that Say Yes To The Dress can’t surprise me, they whip out a bride whose wedding colors are hot pink and leopard. Listen. I know that our collective taste in 2009 was lacking, but that is… extremely tacky! This girl is 23 years old and from SCRANTON PENNSYLVANIA.

Meet Tiffany.

Yep, she wants a hot pink dress. She has brought like seven people to this appointment, including her mother and her future mother-in-law. Tiffany’s mom is somehow the villain of this hot pink and leopard themed appointment, however, because she has zero sympathy for her daughters needs and wants.

I feel like the time to battle over the hot pink wedding was several weeks and/or months ago, but absolutely no one asked me.

She’s got $5,000 to spend on a pink wedding dress, and consultant Audrey is intimidated by the task. There are exactly two (2) pink dresses in all of Kleinfeld’s.

Meanwhile, back in the salon, Tiffany’s mom is telling her future mother-in-law how devastated she is that her daughter won’t wear white. Her baptism dress was white, her communion dress was white, and she also pictured her getting married in a white dress. Tiffany’s mother-in-law, who is clearly sick of this shit, just says, “well you picked those out for her! Get over it!”

Exactly.

Audrey grabs Randy to find the pink dresses. As discussed last week, Audrey is trying out some new sartorial choices, so let’s just acknowledge that and move on (the headband is very Gossip Girl of her.)

Dress 1 doesn’t win over the entourage. Tiffany likes it because it’s pink, but she thinks that it makes her look wide. Her mom – of course – thinks that it isn’t “bridal” enough.

Tiffany loves Dress #2! Everyone thinks that the shape of it is beautiful, but her mom says that it looks like a bedspread. Tiffany’s mom starts going off about the white dress again, and the mother-in-law finally says, “it’s not going to be a traditional white dress, so get over it.” I love her and I’m glad Tiffany has her.

Dress #3 is roundly rejected (thank God) and Randy looks horrified when Tiffany floats the idea of adding a hot pink tulle ruffle. SERIOUSLY. She says her wedding will be like “a sweet sixteen but classy.” That does not exist. Randy gently coaxes her back into trying on Dress #2.

Her friends start crying, she falls in love, and she says yes to the dress.

Next, we’ve got Erin from Delaware. She’s brought her mom, her future MIL, and two of her friends. Erin is having a big Italian wedding in a cathedral, so she’s looking for an enormous, over the top ballgown. YES. This is what I watch this show for.

Keasha is more than up to this challenge.

The problem here is that Erin’s mom does not want to see her in a huge dress. She wants something more simple and understated. Erin knows that they’re tastes don’t align, and explains that she has basically kept her mother out of the wedding planning process entirely to avoid this issue.

Dress #1, surprisingly, is a hit with her mom. Everyone else is a little bit underwhelmed by it, but Erin actually likes it too. Dress #2, her mom’s pick, does not go over as well.

Do dresses like Dress #2 look better in person? I have never understood the appeal of looking like you’ve wrapped 10 yards of white satin around your body.

Erin falls in love with Dress #3. She loves how over-the-top is it and the massive, detailed train. Her friends love this too, but her mom doesn’t get it – calling them the “wow factor generation.” Erin can’t pick between the two, so she decides to put Dress #1 back on.

Surprising everyone (including me) Erin picks Dress #1. And it’s $6,900! Well over her budget!!

But then, a week later, she’s back. Almost immediately, Erin went into panic mode thinking that she’s chosen the wrong dress. She’s come back to try them both on again and has brought only her closest friend.

Randy shows her what the dress would look like bustled, since that’s how she would be wearing it for 75% of her wedding. Erin realizes that everything she loves about the dress completely goes away like that. Just to make sure, she puts the dress that she has already purchased back on again.

Yep, that’s the one. She realizes that her mom was right and (again) says yes to the dress.

Finally, we have a super quick alterations bride! Remember Holly, from season three?

I loved her, I’m so glad that she’s back. What a sweetheart. I love her dress less, but I don’t even mind because she seems to delightful.

So Holly is back for her first fitting with two of her kids and she is THRILLED with the dress!

She looks great. Congratulations to Holly!!!
