SYTTD: S3, E15 – “Clicking With Brides”

I won’t even lie, this episode was so, so, so boring. The theme is exploring the relationship between the consultant and the bride. As we are frequently reminded, the trust that the bride places in her consultant can make or break the appointment. So let’s get into it.

Leah is here with her maid of honor Kaylin and her cousin Becky. She’s looking for something unique and non-traditional. Her mom was supposed to come but had to cancel at the last minute – and Leah decided to come anyways, and hope she could find the dress without her. Her consultant, Dianne, is more than happy to step into that role for Leah and quickly earns her trust.

Unfortunately, Leah’s maid of honor turns out to be an opinionated nightmare.

This is the most 2009 anyone has ever looked. Hair flat-ironed, a smoky eye and a recovering overplucked brow, a babydoll dress and – just out of frame – black leggings and knee length boots. By the way, is Kaylin a Clinton? What is going on here?

Anyways, the first dress that Leah tries on is Kaylin’s pick and she (rightfully) hates it.

Unfortunately, Leah can’t decide between the more traditional Dress #2 and the more modern Dress #3. She wants to stop trying on dresses so she has a moment to think, but Dianne flips into sales mode and doesn’t listen to her bride.

It takes Leah’s very tiny cousin, Lauren, to make them stop.

Leah is so overwhelmed that she breaks down in tears, asking for her mom. They leave without buying a dress, and we find out that she eventually buys another dress at a different salon.

So, the vibes at that appointment got really bad really quickly. Don’t worry – it’s all uphill from here.

Our girl Susan is having her 50th birthday today, and she’s finally getting married to her partner of 20 years. She’s come to Kleinfeld’s with her friend Linda and her daughter Lauren, and she’s been paired with Audrey.

Susan is looking for something with straps, since she’s a more mature bride, and something with a bit of glamour. She falls in love with the first dress, but her daughter shoots it down because it’s too low cut.

Audrey patiently listens to Susan vent about her daughter shooting down the dress while pulling another gown for her to try on. Her patience pays off: everyone loves the second dress – Lauren starts to cry and Susan can’t stop smiling. It’s very, very sweet.

Our third bride is a lightning-fast appointment.

Rychelle has already tried on a lot of dresses, but she can’t find anything that she likes. Rychelle isn’t Like Other Brides™. She wants something non-traditional (drink) and something bohemian. Her fiancé works in forestry and they’re getting married at her parent’s lake house.

Keasha is helping Rychelle pull a few dresses to try on when Rychelle spies something at the end of the rack. She’s hesitant to try it on though, since she thinks it’s too feminine, but Keasha convinces her to try anyways.

Rychelle falls in love immediately. She starts crying in the fitting room and says, “this is so pretty, I don’t think I can pull off this pretty.” A relatable feeling! When she goes out onto the podium, she can’t stop twirling and her entire family is in tears. Keasha is officially batting 1.000.

Our last bride is an alterations bride, as per usual.

Jennifer was previously on the show with her fiancé AJ. She’s here for her first fitting and, of course, she loves her dress and is over the moon. Vera’s amazing alterations team strikes again.
